Creating a Document Using a Wizard

You can create Documents in AssetWise ALIM Web by using an installation wizard, providing that the Document Design plugin has been installed.

To create a document when the Document Design plugin has not been installed, see Creating a Document from a Template.

Follow these steps to create a document.

  1. From the Navigation pane, select the Home icon. The New Object list appears in the Content pane.
  2. If more than one scope exists in the community, set the scope in which to create the location.
  3. Select Document.
    The Create a Document Wizard opens. For example,
  4. Select a Template to use as a filter for the documents and then click Next. The Create a Document wizard advances to the New Document Information page. For example,
  5. Enter the following required information:
    • Number – Leave this field blank to have AssetWise ALIM Web automatically generate a unique code to assign to the document, otherwise select the box and enter a value.
      Tip: You can use a numbering mask and then click to automatically generate a code based on the specified format
    • Revision – An auto-generated number calculated from a Rule Set.
    • Title – The title of the document.
  6. You can enter Classification in the box provided.
  7. You can enter Effective from date.
  8. You can add a Synopsis and Remarks for the document.
  9. When you are finished, click Next.
